What to Know When Planning a trip to Italy

Italy is finally reopening and the restrictions are being lifted for international travelers to enter Italy and safely travel in country. Pre-pandemic, Italy was one of our most-booked destinations so we’re thrilled to be planning travel to Italy again. With that being said, post-pandemic travel looks a little different. Below is an overview of the current protocols and the steps that will be taken with the new COVID-free flights.

The fine print you need to know for your requirements::

  • Self-declaration form filled out prior to entering Italy for all travelers.

  • COVID-free of COVID-tested flights will be implemented between Italy and the United States (This will allow travelers that are both vaccinated and tested to bypass the required 10 day quarantine in Italy).

->Travelers must be tested and present a negative viral test (NAAT or antigen test) 48 hours prior to departure (This does not apply to children under the age of 2 years old).

-> Travelers must be tested with a viral test, again, once they have entered Italy.

->Quarantining is NOT necessary once you have entered Italy from a COVID-free flight.

*In order to return to the United States, you need proof of a negative viral test no more than three days prior to your flight.

*The U.S. is now allowing at-home C OVID-19 testing kits that will allow travelers to simply return home by acquiring a take home test and video conferencing with a certified health worker to ensure the test is valid.

Italy Travel Tips:

  • We recommend direct flights where possible to avoid any other country’s possible testing requirements for transient passengers.

  • Explore all your options for insurance. While many hotels still have flexible cancellation policies, flights are constantly changing and insurance gives you some protection against trip interruption and flight issues.

  • Additionally, there are options for Medical International travel insurance that will fly a traveler home via private jet if they receive a positive Covid result while traveling abroad.
